Morgan Run Resort and Club - South/North Ratings & Reviews

Met a colleague who is a member there for breakfast on a Wednesday morning. It was quiet, only 5 or 6 more people besides us. They poured our coffee but it took a little while for them to come back to take our order. Other than this, the food was great, decent healthy selections for breakfast and I'll definitely go again in the future.

Quiet rooms. Good price. Rooms need some sprucing up though. Paint is chipping, rooms are not as clean anymore, corridor carpeting is old and dirty. Friendly staff and good location make up for a lot, but the hotel is showing it's age.

5 Star location with zero star service.
When making reservations they'll agree to make accommodations but when checking in they act like they don't know what your talking about. Then put you in a room that smells like your uncle's basement... Yes, that is a business in the next room but never mind that... Because you have ants in your room. Toilet tank lid too small and loose. Just very under par for Rancho Santa Fe. Then the iron spits calcium all over your shirt. Ok, that's enough of the stinky musty room but you can't even call the front desk because there is no phone! After moving to a new room you realize you have seen zero guests. Why did they put you in the cob web room?!? While there for 3 nights, only 2 staff go out of their way to make us feel welcome (maintenance and housekeeping). When going to the pool the staff is confused by a hotel guest using the pool. Back to the room and key cards don't work (this will happen every day). Shower backed up with hair in drain. No refrigerator and no microwave. Just warm box water for $5. No elevators either. These are bare bones basic rooms that are neglected and the staff seems bored and apathetic.
I feel like I could have stayed at the Penny Lodge in Escondido and had better service.
Its too bad, Morgan Run has a lot of potential but clearly its best years were several decades ago.
