This long abandoned golf course is a good place to take a walk on the old cart trails which are paved (good when it's wet). While you can still make out part of the course, it's rapidly overgrowing, which isn't a bad thing. The area is split between Spruce Brook Rd, with the north and west sides the most visited, and relatively flat, the south and east sides are more hilly, and a bit more scenic. I've seen many walkers, joggers, people walking dogs, and the occasional cyclist and equestrian even. If you do let your dog run a bit here, or go off trail yourself, watch for ticks. The grasses here are thick and grow high.
There was talk years ago of covering the area in condos, apartments or other housing. There was also talk of making some of the area near the old club house more recreational friendly, like a city park, with basketball, tennis courts and such, and there's been talk of turning some of it into a mountain bike park, or even part of it a dedicated dog park - all valid possibilities that no one wants to really invest in or pay taxes for, so none of that's happened and it's all now going back to nature.
While there are better places to hike, jog, or take your dog, this place is large, interesting, accessible, and true multi-use. I'd say in a matter of years if left as is, the golf course will all but completely vanish, and the trees, shrubs, and grasses will swallow it whole, completely returning it to nature. By then, this will mostly be a place to hike in the woods and open grasslands, on old, broken up paved paths, by the year 2025 or so, as you can see it happening already.

Former golf course that is now used for its paved former cart paths which make awesome walking paths. Lots of joggers and dog walkers. The former clubhouse is used for town of Berlin activities such as dog classes a couple evenings a week. Great open/Green space that could only be better if they had a proper dog park.
