Driving and Major Course Length on PGA Tour Over the Last 25 years

In this graphic we explore the average drive length on the PGA Tour versus the average major tournament course length over the last 25 years.

One really interesting point we can note here is the virtual stagnation in average drive length since 2003. However, courses have gotten relatively longer during that same period of time.

From 1993 to 2002, average drive length on the tour increased a staggering 26.6 yards from 260 to 286.6, while course length remained relatively flat.
