Course was probably worth a 3 star rating. Fairways were nice, second cut was non existent at times and often blurred between that and the rough. Greens were well kept for the most part. The real issue was the management. I have been golfing for 15 years and the last 3 years with my fiance. I have never nor we been flagged for slow pace of play. I am a low 100's golfer my fiance is low 110's. We were paired with another twosome (father and son) and if I had to guess they were probably 110-120 golfers. Our Tee time was 7:19 and by hole 3 the marshal came out and gave us our warning. I was not surprised because I did the see the group ahead of us starting to create separation. At that point we dramatically increased our rate of play. I had my fiance pull any ball out of the sand and I began jogging from cart to ball also picking up 4 foot puts as gimmes just to try and speed up. At that point I felt our pace was more then sufficient. We pressed on, the group behind us was still playing right on our heels which was uncomfortable but I began to see a noticeable gap behind them and what would be the second group behind us (First group behind us was in our tee box as we were finishing, second group behind us was hitting second shot on previous hole) I figured we would be good to play out the remainder even though we did not catch the group ahead of us much. When finishing hole 7 the marshal came and gave us a second warning. I said what distinguishes pace of play because yes there is a group directly behind us but now there is a noticeable gap between them and the second group and I offered to let the group play through figuring we would have no issue staying ahead of the second group. He said the group ahead of us was a full hole ahead of us and that we need to just speed up or skip a hole. I said respectfully the group ahead of us does not dictate our pace of play. We played hole 8 and was met at 9 by the course manager I believe. He said that we need to skip a hole or speed up or we can leave and receive 50% back. The father and son were slightly combative at the guy and so was I because I honestly felt we were not creating a major pace of play issue. I asked him what dictates pace of play. he said Baltimore county sets pace of play at 4 hours and at that moment we were playing at a pace of 4 and 1/2 hours. I did not have my phone on me because I wanted to call him out on that because I know no way it took us 2 hours and 15 minutes to play the front 9. My fiance and I chose to leave and the father and son chose to stay. We spent easily 5 minutes talking to the manager at hole 9 then we proceeded to the parking lot changed our shoes loaded the car and I returned the cart went inside got my 50% back and left. I pulled out of their driveway at 9:33 am. Easily that entire process from talking to the manger at hole 9 to returning to my cart and then getting my refund and then walking to my car and driving out of there had to have taken at a minimum of 25 minutes probably closer to 30. We would have finished hole 9 (Par 5) probably in about 15 minutes which would have had us finishing the front nine at 9:23 conservatively. that makes our pace 4 hours and 8 minutes. I am 100% sure we would have finished at or below the 4 hour pace due to what we were doing to speed our play up. I respect the pace of play rules as well as the golfers behind us. I in no way want to effect anyone else's game as I'm sure almost all golfers don't. I truly believe this was about money and the course itself pushing tee times too close together (fathers day weekend). Were we slower then the average groups that were out there at that point? absolutely. Were we creating this massive pile up behind us because of our slow play? absolutely not. As I mentioned earlier the second group behind us was hitting their second shot on the previous hole (Par 4) while the group behind us was in the tee box on the hole we were finishing (Par 3). They want as many golfers as possible, not to make people happy but to make money.

Just finished playing today. Almost unplayable. Almost every fairway is muddy. Rough is uncut. Played woodlands last week and that course was 4 to 5 stars .

Choose Diamond Ridge to celebrate a belated Father's Day. All 4 players varied in experience and equally enjoyed playing the course. It was a beautiful course and well maintained. We will enjoy coming back.
