Simply the best all-round golf course in Michigan. It's an absolutely brilliant design. I've never played a course with a better balance of difficulty and play-ability. This will be a top 50 course in the US in a few years. Mark it down.

Probably the best golf course in the state and the "fast and firm" conditions separate it from its peers. The course is a par 71 beauty and the front 9 is absolutely stunning. There are plenty of risk/reward holes and if you are in the area then this is a must play. The staff is outstanding and this is a true golfers paradise.

When I think of the best courses I have played in Michigan, I think Crystal Downs, Forest Dunes, Oakland Hills, and Kingsley. I believe Kingsley is the best all around and most enjoyable course in Michigan. The conditions are championship, design is world-class, staff is friendly, and it isn't busy.
Kingsley has an excellent grouping of practice facilities. Two way range, chipping green, putting green, bunkers. The clubhouse is modest - small pro shop, kitchen, deck, fire pit - golf first club second idea.
The course itself is a mix of challenging and fun. It doesn't overwhelm but can punish bad shots (see hole #2 or #9). It starts with a wide open par 5 that forces a long tee shot to carry bunkers or a direction choice. The par 3's test accuracy not distance (again, see #2 or #9, perhaps even #13). I really respect the ability to be creative with shots - the greens respect spin and are designed to allow imagination.
They do allow reciprocating play if you connect through your club pro. It is worth the drive.
