Woodland Prairie Course at Tapawingo National Golf Club Ratings & Reviews
3 months ago
Good greens with a challenging 27 hole layout. Some of the holes can go underwater when the river runs high. This leads to some very spotty fairways in low areas. The prices are a little steep when compared to other courses in the area with comparable playing conditions. The pace of play generally has not been a problem.

Course is in excellent shape overall. Golfers need to be reminded to repair divots. Also, showing where to enter a sand trap would keep the sides from collapsing.

I heard great things about this course and was excited to play. The staff in the clubhouse was friendly and helpful directing us to the first tee box, the Meramec course. The first few holes were interesting an decent. then the course conditions dropped off dramatically. I do understand this section of the course was flooded in May - a point that was reinforced when we made the turn. We then hit the back 9 (Woodlands) which was in much better shape. Unfortunately we had a pair of 10ish year old boys following us on each hole - directly and closely behind us. Apparently a son or grandson of the owner of the course. We repeatedly asked them to play through which they refused ("We're not supposed to be out here") until the second to last hole. A frustrating front 9 due to conditions and no relief with the kids following us on the back 9 lead to a disappointing experience at a course that I was looking forward to play. IMO it was not worth the $65 to play and I doubt I'll make way to the course in the foreseeable future.
