Apple Valley Course at Lake Lure Golf & Beach Resort Ratings & Reviews
7 days ago
Great course with excellent views. Well maintained. The course plays a lot harder than it looks. It sucked it was cart path only and the GPS on the cart was working properly. It worked for most holes. A lot of bugs out today. I will definitely be back to this course. The staff was friendly. The cage serves breakfast and lunch. Good food and great tea. Highly recommend this course. A little pricey but well worth it.

Great course at a great price. They had a hard winter with a long freeze and then lots of rain. So the course had some winter damage they were working on. In another month it will be earning a 5 star rating. The only bad thing I have to say about the place is their grill is over priced. Next time after we play we'll eat elsewhere. They have another couse near by that we have yet to play.

Normally I would give Apple Valley 5 stars but the course wasn't in very good condition. A lot of the tee boxes have very little grass, some were almost bare. The fairways had a lot of thin lies, and thin Bermuda grass is not normal condition for this course. I only hit into 2 sandtraps and they were unplayable due to the rocks and gravel.
However, the greens were in great shape and fast. Putts rolled true and smooth.
I'm supposed to play there in a CGA tournament in June but I'm going to withdraw cause I don't think they can get the course in tournament condition by then. Luckily we played in the afternoon and paid the twilight rate of $39 and not the normal rate of $60. Maybe Bald Mountain is in better shape...
