I used to play this course all the time. Greens fees were reasonable and annual memberships were (are?) affordable. The course layout, with the exception of #16, is above average. I played in a tournament at Dauphin Highlands this weekend. I realize it’s early October, but I was really disappointed in the condition of the golf course, and the fact that I was charged $125 for two rounds. The greens on holes 11, 12, 14, and 16 are completely shot. They are at least half sand and the parts that are intact are as long as the fairway. The other greens aren’t much better. Numerous tee boxes are ripped apart and low-laying areas of the course are mud pits. There are tire tracks on seemingly every hole from maintenance equipment. I have come to know and really like the management team at this course but I can’t help but think things have been mismanaged in several ways. Judging by the conditions, it’s evident they have let way too much traffic on the course (presumably to make up revenue?). Too many people hurts pace of play, but it kills a course that’s already fragile from less-than-ideal weather patterns this season. At this point, I’m not sure I’ll be headed back to Dauphin Highlands unless I hear the course has made significant improvements. I fear that irreparable harm has been done to the course, from a maintenance standpoint. Unfortunate.

The people and the course are great. A must play! Booking a tee time was a struggle. They are now using another company who will throw a low price. Problem is you can not cancel. We had a major storm just as we completed the first nine. No rain check for second nine. Played four holes in the rain. And could not take carts onto course, cart path only. Again, this is a must play course in great condition and great people work there.
