Waterwood also known as: "WaterHood" Boardmembers devised a plan to contribute POA funds to the Waterwood Men’ Golf Association, for a golf course Waterwood does not own for the benefit of a very small group of affluent- owner-golfers. POA meetings are held on Mondays to reduce owner attendance. A resident was arrested (Criminal Trespass) for trying to video a meeting for working owners to view at a later date. The WIA website: "The course is being maintained by the residents through voluntary contributions." I do not believe that's correct. In Texas there is no oversite of POA's or HOA's. Board members are bonded from civil liability. So, $45K can be given to the WMGA for their friends to play golf. Yep that's what they do each year! Who pays? All the hard working home owners who live in WW that do not play golf or live anywhere near the course. The funds are used to stabilize home value price loss for properties near the golf course. The problem is less than 20 percents of residents live by the course and or play golf. So, 80 percent of the homeowners in WW subsidize a small group of golfers-homeowners. Bottomline, those who benefit from the cousre should pay for the course's maintenance. There needs to be a extra POA surchatge for waterfront properties to pay for Waterwood East maintence requirements. This Social Welfare program for affluent golfers needs to stop.The population density doesn’t justify the $100K ish cost for the security service. Make the patrol voluntary like the Fire Department or cancel the patrol. The Exec. Dir. & Treasure [JM] has finally retired saving WW over $100K a year in salary. Let’s see what the Board does with the $100K salary saving! Waterwood West needs to have a “West-Exit” referendum and form its own HOA. Residents living West of 980 need to have their own HOA in order to break this neo-feudalism control the owners East of 980 have always had on Waterwood.
