Eighteen Hole Course at Shary Municipal Golf Course Ratings & Reviews
2 months ago
I played Shary Course today 2-19-18, I was behind quite a big line of golfers at pay station at the pro shop. Many if not all were winter Texans, and from my vantage point all paid with credit cards.
As the clerk commented Canadian credit cards are more harder to process.
All were charged $29 for 18 holes and 1/2 cart. Never once did I here the clerk ask if they were a mission,tx resident.
Until I was asked. I said no. As is my wont not to be deceitful. I said no I
was charged $34.00 . If you have a discount. Then verify it. Don't allow it on race. Yes I am Hispanic, and was the only one asked. Screw you. To the clerk.
I hope you read this. Lousy!

Played at Shary Golf Course today for the 1st time in over a year and was quite pleasantly surprised. I've lived in Mission for 15 years and have been golfing at Shary all that time -- except for the past 12 months when I could not play because of fused vertebrae that required back surgery. Throughout most of the past 15 years I have played at Shary only because it's close. I have considered it a pleasant enough course but have regarded the upkeep and condition of tee boxes, fairways and greens to range from dreadful to just barely acceptable. Several years ago more than $6 million was spent on upgrades to the course including redoing the club house and installing a state-of-the-art sprinkler system that was supposed to deliver week killer, fertilizer and grass seed as well as water. That gave many of us hope, but nothing improved very much over the next several year. So imagine my surprise when I came back to Shary after my year-long, back-induced golf hiatus and discovered fairways covered wth actual grass (still a good bit of weed content but that seems to be coming under control) , tee boxes with grass and greens that were on a par with any of the best in the Valley. All of this combined to make my first round of golf at Shary in over a year very enjoyable. I think the changes can be attributed to the course's new director, Mario Flores, who seems to really be interested in helping Shary Golf Course achieve its highest potential. It's not there yet, but it seems to have really come a long way in just the past year. Can't wait to play there again.
